Description

To enhance access to maternal mental health screening, support and education for Indigenous women, faculty from the Hofstra Northwell Physician Assistant Studies Program partnered with the Postpartum Resource Center of NY, Inc. to provide education and training workshops about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) to healthcare providers from the Shinnecock Indian Nation. Once trained, these healthcare providers will be able to better serve their Native American mothers by educating them and their community about PMADs, identifying those at risk for a PMAD through screening, and providing assistance for those suffering from a PMAD through telephone support, support groups and resources for treatment.
